Getting started in college

Hi Bigger Pockets Community,

I am a college student in Phoenix Arizona. I have been listening to the BP podcasts for a while now and would like to finally make the jump from listening to actually attempting to start real estate investing. The problem is, like so many others, I have no idea where to start, I do not have much money being a poor college student, or how to get people to take me seriously, and so on. (I am 21 but I have the appearance of a 17 year old.) I know this is not a easy field of work, and that I know very little bit about it, but I want to learn, whether that means reading or helping someone else. So I just wanted to reach out and possibly hear from you guys what you think some good first steps would be for me to stop wishing I could learn to invest, and make it a reality. Thanks for listening.
