Is it a bad idea to buy your first rental with a VA loan?

Hi BP community,

My partner and I are looking to buy our first investment property. Given that this is our first step, we figure living in and rehabbing and renting out our first investment is a good starting point.

My partner is a veteran and we are in the process of getting pre-approved for a VA loan. Are there any problems that will arise later that we should be aware of when moving forward with this? As far as the lender is concerned, as long as we intend to live there as our primary residence at first, the duration of how long we stay is up to us.

Any thoughts help! Thanks again BP.
