Military vet turned investors?

Hi everyone. Delighted to be here. I am interested in purchasing a duplex, triplex or a multiplex when I become a bit more savvy on REI. (I do plan to be a tenant as well) In the meantime, I was wondering if you guys have used or knows someone who has used the VA loan to invest in such? If so, what was the process, requirements, etc? Thanks in advance.

Hey Leticia, welcome! Regarding the VA loan for a duplex - 4-plex property: as long as you plan to occupy one of the units, you should be good to go as long as you qualify. A local lender should be able to walk you through that process. Anything more than 4 units falls into a different category, and residential mortgages then don't apply. You can find info on the requirements and such here: http://www.benefits.va.gov/HOMELOANS/
