New to Investing- A lot of Reading but How do I "Jump In"

Hi Bigger Pockets Community:

I'm new to the world of investing as I have not completed my first real estate transaction but I want to move forward in that direction, while working a full time job.

I've done a good bit of reading on House Flipping and RE investing in general as well as listened to many of the BP podcasts that Josh and Brandon do.

I'm interested in starting out with Buy and Flip, REO's and Short Sales to start.

I have less than 5K to start with so I'm not sure of when I will "jump in" but I would like to start the new year, 2017 with some actionable items that can move me closer to acquiring me first deal.

Any suggestions on what I should put on my "Starter List" as a new investor.

Thanks a bunch!

 Steve T.
