Best Way to Get Started

Hello BP community!

My wife and I are currently working towards buying my first property. Our goal is to buy, renovate, rent, and repeat. I have a lot of questions about real estate, but the overarching question I have is: How do I get started?

I am a Physical Education teacher right now, but I know I want to transition to something that will benefit our future goals. I am considering working with a remodeling company to learn the skills needed to renovate. I am also considering becoming an appraiser and working under a licensed appraiser to learn how to analyze that market, and how to "buy right".

But, before I can make a transition or buy a house to renovate, we need to save up our emergency, and a down payment (having a significant down payment is what my wife and I are comfortable with and desire to do).

So, BP community, what are you suggestions? Do I look into remodeling for construction experience? Do I research the market on my own (if so what are some quality resources)? Are their books that you would recommend for someone in my position? Any feedback would be a huge help.
