Hello BP community! I'm relatively new to the investing word and I'm looking to get an overview of the lingo and short hand that gets typically used; such as ROI,NOI, actual Cap and the like. Any help would be a blessing

Hi there!

For TLAs (Three Letter Acronyms), I suggest investopedia.com as a general resource.  They have detailed explanations for lots of terms used in real estate and finance.

As for an overview of these terms generally applied, there are a number of good books out there, from "The Book on Real Estate Investing" by our own @Brandon Turner to "The Millionaire Real Estate Investor" by Gary Keller.

Also, there's nothing wrong with taking a class on real estate.  Most community colleges offer classes like Real Estate Law or Real Estate Principles.  And if you decide you want to get a real estate license someday, you'll be one step on your way.

Hope this helps!
