New home! Now what?

Hi everyone, Just bought my first home last week! It was a long drawn out escrow thanks to the appraisal and a holiday, but it's finally closed. So I used a VA loan to purchase and will be living in it for at least two years, but I plan on refinancing later to rent it out. My question is what should/can I do, if anything, over the next two years to prep it as rental? Are there upgrades that would help in easing some of the various "complications" that may arise while renting? I've read Biggerpockets, the book on rental investing, but I'd like to get opinions from anyone willing help. Thanks in advance!
