Advice on first property

Hey everyone! Im 22 and definitely plan on investing in the next year. Im currently living with the parents saving up as much money as possible. What I need opinions on is what i should start doing. Should I buy a house live in it for a year, save up some more money and buy another house and rent that out. OR should I buy a duplex live on one side and rent the other. To me I feel like buying 2 houses would be better but I feel like buying a duplex would be nice to start with. The only problem is finding a nice duplex in my area. The houses im looking at are 3 bd 2+ baths and 2 car garages.
