Newbie looking for help

Hello all!!! My name is Stephen Butler!! I'm really interested in real estate and real estate investing but I don't know where to begin. My professional experience lies mostly in transportation and management. But some years ago o managed an 8 unit property with a family member in Chicago. I'm older in my mid forties with a lot of life experience but I'm really interested in partnering with someone in the Chicagoland area to learn more about the business. Not sure what aspect i should start in ?? Like I said I have years of management and supervisory experience but how does that translate to this industry Please help with any suggestions Thanks
