How to flip on Long Island, NY

Hello Forum,

I am a newb and have been thinking about real estate for a while now and feel ready to start investing. I am attracted to buying and flipping, not renting out for now, although i want to be able to build up to eventually buy and hold and rent.

The problem for me is that i live on Long island where the average price is so high that i dont even know where to start and how to start.

Would anyone please help me with the advise or their own success story in a similar scenario
