First-Time Home Buyer, Plans to Rent Out

Hi, I've been listening to the podcasts and reading lots of info over the past few months. I think my first step into the real-estate world is going to be buying my first home with plans to rent it out in a couple years. I feel like I really need to get my feet wet with home ownership before I take on the task of rentals/being a landlord.

Saying this, what steps do I need to take in the initial purchasing of my home, knowing I plan to rent it out in two years? Does that change anything I do on the front-end with loans, DP, etc?

Thank you for any advice/tips/wisdom! This is quite an overwhelming process to jump into!

Brittni
