Guidance on how to get started

Hello BP Community,

I love in MA and am looking to get started in investing in "buy and hold" small multi units. I wanted to see if I could get some insight on a few things. 1) areas to target outside of Boston given the Boston itself is very expensive 2) I don't have 20% for a down payment but, do have equity in my home. I owe about $280K and it is valued at $420K. What are the options to leverage this equity to use for a down payment? 3) long term is to buy 3-4 multis with a partner then really swing for the fences and buy something big like a 10 unit. What is the best way to do this? Any feedback would be great.

Bryan
