Canadians Wholesale Land Investing in the US?

Hey everyone! I'm a complete newbie to the REI world and as the title of my thread implies I'm also from Canada. I've been listening to countless podcasts and reading as much as I can but I haven't seen my question answered so I thought I would join this forum and throw it out there. But please feel free to direct me elsewhere if this has already been answered!

Basically what I want to know is if it's possible for a Canadian to become a land wholesaler in the US while still making a decent profit? What are the tax implications that I need to look out for? I was looking at a thread yesterday that said as long as the capital gains stays in the US and is reinvested in the US then I wouldn't be charged a capital gains tax (ie. this would only be charged when I decide to move the money to Canada). Is this correct or have I understood it wrong? Would that also mean I need to open a US account to hold the money until I reinvest it?

I would really like to get started in this but I want to be sure that I do the proper research first before I jump in. Also, has anyone read the book

https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0091ZCIZU/ref=wl_it_dp_o...

I'm considering buying it to get even more details from a border crossing perspective. Would love to know if it's helped anyone.

Thanks!

Aisha
