Getting a bank loan out of state

I was told there was no such thing as a bad question! I'm planning on buying a SFH out of state as a rental property. I was wondering if I should go to a bank in CA where I live or to a bank on Mississippi where i plan to invest. Also what are your opinions on online lenders were you plug in the numbers and companies compete for your business???? Thanks for the feedback.
