Getting Agent/Broker license. WA state?

If you take a course can you obtain a License without being employed by a brokerage firm?  On the license application it asks for the employing firms information. I'm just wondering if it's possible to obtain a license without having to be affiliated with another company. 

Thanks in advance.  I tried searching for the info.
