Looking for a mentor
Hi everyone,
My names Taylor. I am 20 years old and a mail carrier at USPS. I am from Southwest Pennsylvania, about an hour south of Pittsburgh. I am looking for a mentor/partner or future partner to help me break into the world of real estate. I have been researching real estate and reading on BP for a while now.
I have a little money saved up (~15k) and I am ready to get into my first deal. I am hoping to find someone that wants to mentor a young guy that is ambitious and has big goals. Like I said I dont have a ton of money or a high salary. But I am willing to hustle and am super ambitious to do what I have to make this come true. Some areas I am looking into investing are Morgantown WV, Fairmont WV, Clarksburg, WV, Waynesburg PA, Uniontown PA, the Mon Valley (Charleroi, Monessen, California, Donora, etc.)
I hope to find someone that can help me out. I am going to do this with or without a mentor, but having someone experienced to help me, would allow me to grow faster and avoid some mistakes. I can do work and will trade my labor and time for the knowledge of an experienced investor. Thanks
Taylor

A fellow mail carrier, eh? I've carried in every one of those Mon Valley offices. I've got a few projects in my pipeline if you'd like to partner up.
I'm just about 6 months ahead of you on my real estate adventures. My best advice to you is to analyze a ton of deals to start. Find a property you like. Anything at all. MLS listings, an old apartment you used to live in, even your mom's house, and just run the numbers on them. It'll help train your brain to see the numbers.
I'll even give you some free advice: look in the Monongahela area for properties. Great little town with a thriving Main St and plentiful opportunities for deals. But beware of hidden repairs in those old buildings.
Best of Luck!
