Recently seperated military excited to invest using VA loan

Hey everyone,

I just got out of the Navy in March and recently moved back home to NJ. Ever since reading Rich Dad, Poor Dad I've been really excited at the prospect of passive income and having my money work for me. Reading The Book on Rental Property Investing has only fueled the fire.

My plan is for my wife and I to buy a duplex and live in one of the units and rent the other for our first home/investment. My father is a licensed contractor of 30 years, my step mother/grandparents own their own title company and my father in law is a realtor (still unsure about that last connection) so the stars seem to be aligned for my investment plans.

My main question for everyone is if anyone else here has taken advantage of the VA loan for their investment property? And what are the benefits of the VA loan over other options?
