Door Knockng Do's and Dont's

Hi - I've started walking neighborhoods and knocking on each door searching for owners willing to sell their unlisted houses. (I'm not an agent).

I'd like help with: What are some good scripts that have worked in the past?

Should I still approach houses with No Soliciotrs signs? Should I leave my flyer if they're not home? (I do with houses without this sign).

Is it okay to walk up to a front door if the walkway gate is closed but the driveway gate is open?

Thanks!
