RE Investing while Renting Yourself

Anyone out there have experience or advice for getting started with RE investing while being a renter yourself? We've identified a couple multi-family properties prime for house hacking BUT we are in a pretty good rental situation ourselves at the moment; which has kept our expenses low and stable.
