How to Help a Mentor?

So I'm new to all of the REI world and working my way through as much reading as I can. The next step would be to find a mentor and gain hands on experience of the REI process.

My question is not how to find a mentor, I'm not ready for that yet. My question is, what can I offer a potential mentor? I currently don't have enough free capital to invest and I work a 9-5.

What service can I be offering for evening and weekend work that would help a mentor enough for them to want to take me under their wing someday?
