Buying a duplex to live in

Hi I am looking for a duplex to live in and rent the other unit out. How would you run the numbers for an owner occupied duplex?  I see a lot of info on when you purchase for solely investment purposes but need some way to make sure the numbers are right for an owner occupied duplex.  Any advice would be appreciated
