Last recording date

I was givin a property address by a friend who says the house is in rough shape. According to the tax records for that county it says, a last recording of 07'. what does that exactly mean? The title was recorded probably due to a sale I imagine but could a second mortgage or a lein cause another recording? Anything else? Thanks in advance.

here in Texas last recording date is the last time there was a change in the title to the property. The appraisal district also provides a title history, so I can see what the change was. That's important, because it could be as simple as someone removing a spouse or adding a Living Trust, neither of which represents a sale.
