Must I Bite the Apple?

Hello BP members!

Here is the situation. I am 19 yrs old, in school pursuing to get a degree for business management. I have my vision in real estate for quite a while and I have been passively searching for an assistant property management intern. With the history I have on record/resume, it will be like fishing in a small, murky, dark pond. My goal is to eventually obtain a great paying job to fund my RE investments.

Needless to say, I am an ambitious young one. What I struggle to find is a mentor who will be willing to guide me on this journey of RE... that is until yesterday.

Where I work at, there is a bartender who is currently doing RE on the side. He use to be at the top of RE until the market paid it's dues around 2008. After a while of working with him, he sees the passion and drive in me but delivers that sense in a belittling way, saying comments like "loser with passion" or "scrubs." Despite the goofy labels, he offers to help me. The deal is I have to get my RE license before I am accepted under his wings to do his commercial RE deals for him. Of course, he will gain majority of the commission, while I get what I receive.

The question is: Should I focus more on school (both mentally and financially) and hope to gain an internship down the road or should I "bite the apple" and hope for the best while attending to both RE and my degree?

Thanks for swinging by this post!
