How to learn the RE world

Hi everyone,

Ill try to make this short. Im brand new to the real estate world and have dreams of becoming an investor. I live at home, pay no rent and make $15 an hour. I am fortunate to say, there is a trust in my family (upper 6 figures) that I may be able to access as a loan. However, the money is well protected and not loosely given to members of my family. My mother has access to communication with the lawyer at hand and she is supportive of me. To open communication with the lawyer, through my mother, a proper business plan is needed.  I am in the process of getting my license and trying to learn what I can online and from this great website.

My question is, even though I am in school, I know squat about the how the RE world actually works in real time. Would anyone recommend becoming an agent's assistant for a period of time to become familiar with how transactions and everything works? Or can anybody offer any suggestion as to how I can break in and become familiar, hands on?

Moreover, I need to show the holding lawyers that I am serious, responsible and driven so that they may consider giving me a loan. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Jack
