Starting Real Estate Investing

I am 19 years old and have been doing a lot of research on real-estate lately. I have a passion for working for myself to achieve financial freedom and need some insight on where to start. I still live at home, but will be moving out in 6 months or so as I transfer to a University. These next 6 months are going to be huge for me as these are the last months with no bills, so I really want to make a move soon. I have $20,000 and the drive to do whatever it takes. I am in the Houston area and have been doing a lot of research on houses around me, but really need some insight on the initial moves I should make starting out. Any help is really and truly appreciated. Give me every piece of advice you have. Thank you!
