Good Credit, Not much Work experience

I'm looking to purchase my first duplex. I'm 21, still in college, have pretty good credit but don't have two full years of work history (took time off for school). On top of that the last year and a half around 60% of my income has been from commission. I submitted pre-approval paperwork for an FHA loan but my banker said it would be difficult for me to get a loan due to the work experience and commission part. Does anyone have advice that can help me as far as getting money to pay for a place? I would rather not have to wait until summer of next year to get my first place. Any advice would be great. Thank you!
