low price flips

I am new to real estate and want to buy rental property to hold eventually.  I would like to start by doing a few flips to raise capital.  I have some money saved just not enough for the kind of property I am looking for. Question is can I make money off of lower priced flips, say under $120,000. That's all I can afford right now with my 20% down. What is my best strategy?
