Investing strategy and Education for beginners

After several years of working part time as a freelance digital Marketing Consultant, I am considering investing in real estate. I want to learn and get up to speed quickly so I can start making some deals and money. More importantly, I need to prove it to myself and my better half that I can do it. I need to make money before I will borrow from myself or anyone else. I am financially conservative, and balking at the  thought of investing in an expensive real estate education and coaching program. However, I do realize that I need some good education and guidance on this matter. Looking things up online is not always practical nor reliable. There are so many providers  to pick from when it comes to the education. What is a good place or provider who will teach me wholesaling (and the marketing that I would need to do to find  potential sellers and cash buyers)? Also, I am considering buying a multi-family dwelling just to test my investing and landlording capabilities. Do these sound like good place for a beginner?Want to stay out of flipping for a while, but want to make some cash through safe investments so I can use that as operational capital to grow my business.
