Ordering Survey
We're in the process of buying our first property. Learning a lot right now. The title company told our lender that we need to order a survey. Should we just Google a survey company or is there something more specific we should be doing here?

Not all surveys (or surveyors) are created equal. Like any company, they will provide a survey with their right hand but use their left hand to limit their liability by including ambiguous language in their certification language. I recommend you have your attorney provide you a copy of his/her "survey items checklist" that includes very specific certification language, otherwise, should a problem arise you may not have the coverage you think you might under the surveyor's insurance.
