Finding and screening for a local partner

Hi,

For anyone who's found a quality local partner outside your own area, how did you find them and what was your screening process?

My work has taken me outside the US into Asia, and every face-to-face meet up would therefore require a 20+ hour flight. I can do it and plan to, but at the same time this cannot be a regular outing.
