Do you own a Real Estate Holding company?

Hello! My first post - and the real estate investing experience to match it. I am wondering if any one owns or thinks its a good idea to own a company that holds the property for you instead of having it in your own name for liability reasons. I may be too inexperienced to realize that this may be a "duh" question. Let me know! Thanks, Alex
