Just beginning, where to seek Professional guidance?

It has been a dream of mine to invest in Real Estate. I knew nothing about it until I read some books, watched some videos, and listened to Real Estate Speakers. I have even went to the Fortune Builders 3 Day Workshop. Even though it was only 3 days, they covered a lot and I learned so much. I just joined BP and I live in New York. I work as a Manager at a Dental Office and I am willing to work hard in Real Estate. My first goal is to purchase an Apartment building with 3 or 4 units and have residual Income. What would be the best advice on beginning this process and seeking a successful experienced Real Estate Investor to help me along the way?
