Newbie trying to get in the game

Hey guys,

I am 19 years old and currently trying to get into real estate investing. I work an under the table job and I have about 7k in savings and a mediocre high 500s credit score. I'm looking to take the next step to get into real estate. I live in an area that properties are very cheap. Does buying a rental seem feasible? Or should I just put all my focus into wholesaling? Looking forward to hearing from you guys. Thanks in advance
