How to create an opportunity

I have been reaching out to realtors in my area requesting opportunities to work for them as an assistant.  I don't have investment or real estate experience, but I have 6 years of office administrative experience.  I haven't heard back from anybody and am wondering if I'm going about it wrong.  So BP, I would like to know your best advice on how I can get a realtor to agree to let me be their assistant/understudy.
