Buying In Southern California

Hello everyone.

We are looking to start doing some Real Estate investing and possible flipping. What areas would you recommend in Southern California right now? Also, any pointers at all on getting started would be fantastic.

As for flipping I find it a little easier to find deals in LA rather than OC, and I like the cities along the 605 (pico rivera, whittier, bell gardens, Hawaiian Gardens, downey, etc) plus long beach
