Buying a Co-op in New York

Jasmine Zhang
Posted

I have little experience in real estate. Can you please help me with the considerations needed to decide whether to buy this co-op to live in? I was thinking about renting it, but the rent seemed too high at $2,200.

1. I have already toured it because I was thinking about renting it

2. I will probably live there for at least one year, but likely less than two

3. I don't need a mortgage; my savings will cover the cost.

4. As noted, it includes furniture.

5. It is 15 minutes from my office

6. I am thinking that paying monthly maintenance of <$1,000 is much less than the rent, so it seems like a good deal.
