Pros or Cons of building a manufactured home in Californias inflated market

We are looking for a home for my husband in California and the market is so diluted with terrible and overpriced homes, that we are thinking to go outside the conventional box. His position is moving him and were trying to stay in front of it, but I am not leaving our city (two hours away till our last son graduates) so were looking at purchasing a mobile home in a park or to purchase land and put a manufactured home on it. With having a rental and a primary home already, we are truly trying to keep the monthly payments as small as possible with giving him comfort and a home.
