Starting Out in Real Estate Investing

All - 

I have a goal of owning at least 10 cash flowing doors within the next ten years. I would like to purchase my first property sometime next year, utilizing this year to learn and network as much as I can. I have some exposure to real estate investing as I work as a commercial lender. I see these borrowers doing the thing, so why not me? 

What would you guys recommend for getting started? I'm a part of local real estate investors meeting and I have some good realtor contacts. Other than that, I don't know what I should be doing.
