25 y/o and in the process of being a self taught real estate investor. Currently working to gain capital as I educate myself and seek knowledge through every possible avenue. Any advice, suggestions, books, videos or discussions are welcomed and greatly appreciated. I am patient, diligent, persistent, driven, a fast learner and adaptive.

My purpose behind my decision to pursue REI is to gain financial freedom for wife and I, my future family as well as have the ability to make sure my parents are well taken care of once they reach the retirement age.

If I had to label myself I’d want to be known as an open minded rental investor for all long term, mid term and short term investing, with the occasional flip for quicker capitol to put back into another rental.

Hi Shawn, welcome to BP!

I’d recommend starting with the BP podcast and books like The Book on Rental Property Investing by Brandon Turner. Networking is also crucial for success in real estate, so look for local investor meetups or connect with others online. While real estate can feel overwhelming with all the strategies available, try to narrow down your focus early—like long-term rentals. Operating an LTR is quite different from managing a short-term rental , so I'd recommend focusing on mastering one strategy before expanding your portfolio. Best of luck!
