Any Advice On Getting Started In The Houston, TX Market? (Or Other Emerging Markets)

Matthew Mielnik
Posted

Hi everyone, hope all is well!

My name is Matt, I recently moved to Houston and would really like to get into the local investment scene. Does anyone here run profitable rentals (long term or short term) and would be willing to share some good locations / strategies on getting started? Max price point would be around $350k but the lower the better.

Any other emerging markets / cities in the US that would be good to get into? Maybe some opportunities that are early on and could see some substantial growth over time. Let me know your thoughts, just trying to hash out a concrete plan.

Thank you so much in advance!

Hey Matthew, I would attend local meetups and start networking with as many investors as you can. I would even say cold call some of these investors who owe many rentals and ask them questions. If you think they'll shrug you off, you'll be surprised.

As you figure out the best strategy for you and what these deals look like, you can start meeting with investor-friendly agents to help guide you further and start analyzing deals.
