Trying to grasp it al

Hello everyone! I'm a full time IT specialist AND have my own home inspection business in Southern CO. I'm wanting to start to develop my rental portfolio for long term goals and retirement! I have no intentions of quitting my job or shutting down my business, but want to buy and use properties to help grow my equity and help me develop a 20+ property portfolio, creating a nest egg for 15+ years down the road, when I retire. Im looking into the prospect of multi family & mobile home courts, as well as MTR single family homes. I am ok with having a property manager at this time, especially for anything out of state or drive distance. I want long term gains and goals, with the only short term goal, being to pay for my personal mortgage, after all expenses of the rentals are taken care of. Im an avid listener and reader of all things BiggerPockets. I have been around construction my entire life, and I love tech. Spending time and money up front to give someone a great rental with minimal concerns is my goal. Im looking at DSCR loans and possible other hard money ideas. As I want my W-2 job to cover me when I purchase my next home that I plan to live in. I currently have a 5 bed 3 bath home, that I plan to keep, and turn into a rental, as it will easily rent for more than my current mortgage. Any suggestions, thoughts, or ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks to you all!

Hey Jason! Welcome aboard! I recommend reading “Long-Distance Real Estate Investing: How to Buy, Rehab, and Manage Out-of-State Rental Properties” - I found it to be very helpful when I got started investing 2.5 years ago.

Here is a summary of the book.

The book also mentions the importance of having a rockstar Realtor, contractor, lender, and property manager.

I invest locally in Columbus and Cleveland. I can send you a list of contacts in Ohio to help you build your team, property manager. Let me know how I can help!
