Investing in nicer neighborhoods with expensive property

I recently started working with a broker in Beverly Hills while studying to get a real estate license. I got a minimum wage type job here so I can kind of learn the area a bit and even possibly begin networking. So wanting to start out in some investing, what types of investment opportunities should I be looking for?
