Checking Rental History...
New investor question here....
When looking at a property with tenants in there already is it common place to contact the property management company and ask if they pay on time or is there another method to finding out if you're about to invest in a headache or not.

Absolutely! I would do that if I were in your shoes.
I think your starting off with the right idea in mind, by fact checking.
I've always been told to "inspect what you expect" and if I am about to purchase a property with tenants you better believe I will be doing everything that I can do find out about those tenants!
