Learning Real Estate looking for advices and connections
Hi everybody! My name is Giovanni Cragnotti. I just graduate medical school and I am currently working as a first year internal medicine resident in south Florida which has been going very well so far. I am very fortunate to have graduated medical school debt free. I am currently living with my parents so I am saving most of my salary. (>50%).
As I am accumulating funds, I am looking to invest in real estate and buying my first rental property together with my brother. We live in Plantation FL and are willing to invest anywhere it makes sense from south Miami to past Fort Lauderdale. I just wanted to share what I have been doing so far to prepare for my first real estate investment and get some feedback and advices.
1. I have been reading real estate books:
- Rental property investing by Brandon Turner
- Estimating rehab costs by J Scott
Currently looking for more books. Please let me know what other must read I should buy.
2. I have been watching some of the free webinars offered by BiggerPoclets and I have a pro account so I have been consuming the other content that is available on the website
3. I have been also consuming YouTube content about real estate
3. I have been analyzing deals in South Florida almost every day a couple per day just to familiarize myself with neighborhoods and numbers.
4. My brother and I have agreed that we need to figure out when and where real estate meet ups around our area (Plantation FL) are happening so that we can attended and connect with other investors, but I have not attended one yet. If there is anyone in South Florida that knows of any meets ups happening please let me know I would love to attend if I am free from work.
5. I have been trying to find content about loans, but I feel this is an area I have been struggling with. I learned the basics (different types of loans etc…) but still fell like there is so much more to understand especially in the actual process of obtaining a loan.
If you have any advices on how I should better familiarize myself with this aspect of real estate I would really appreciate it. I wonder if setting up a meeting with my bank just to talk about possibilities and steal some of their time to get some free knowledge would be worth it.
I know everybody is really busy so I thank anyone that is going to read my post and respond ahead of time. If there is anything I should be doing to improve my probability of succeeding in real estate before moving forward with my future investment please let me know. If you want to connect please reach out to me I am super knowledge hungry.
Thank you again.
Best,
Giovanni Cragnotti
