New to Real Estate investing

Hey what's up everyone, I have been reading and researching for months now about real estate investing and strategies. I see mentorship and apprenticeships all over the internet and have been trying to decide if that's best for me, I definitely would love to have someone with experience I can look to for guidance and coaching but with all the programs online you can never tell what is a scam and what is legit. I am just curious about how others decided to do to take their first steps into REI world. Love to hear any advice or experiences anyone else has.
