Hello everyone, I am a practicing pharmacist/ pharmacy owner from San Jose, California. I recently stumbled upon BIggerPockets and am now obsessed about REI. I have zero experience in real estate investing, but I am interested in the Cincinnati and Columbus markets, as they seem to be more investor friendly than San Jose (where a beat-up house can still bid for 1MM+). I am interested in MTRs and fix n flip and would love to connect with local investors, realtors, contractors, or anyone simply interested in real estate investing. Cheers!

Contrarian advice - pick a local market you can drive to and go all-in on it.

Every new California investor on BP that says "my market is too expensive" gets told to invest in Ohio.  And to be clear, that is totally possible and a great strategy.  But I just don't see that they're willing to put in the time and effort that it would take to actually build wealth, rather than just buying a property for the sake of buying a property.  They want to push Internet button get $500 per unit in cashflow.  And that is just not happening right now.

Remote fix and flip is just a tough strategy.
