Starting STRs from overseas — does it work?

Hello!

I'm new to BP and real estate investing and looking to acquire my first property with a short term goal of replacing my W2 income. I'm currently based abroad and careers take us overseas for a few years at a time, so I need to start and sustain my entire operations remotely. My thinking right now is to begin with STR rental arbitrage to get my core systems in place, then scale up from there with property purchases. I'd love to engage with folks who have started and/or scaled their investments entirely remotely, as finding the right people and working from 7 hours ahead of east coast time zones means I'm unavailable a fair amount of the day. I've just started reading Long Distance Real Estate Investing and Short Term Rentals Long Term Wealth. Next step for me is identifying the right market so I can work on getting my Core 4 in place and a rental contract. Would welcome thoughts if my steps seem in the right order, if this seems like a feasible game plan, or any best practices. Thank you so much — I'm looking forward to learning from this community!
