Build or buy

I’m a 19 year old in Jefferson county, MO. I’ve been wanting to get into my first house hack in this area and have had very little luck finding sellers for duplex-fourplexes and have came across the idea of building because a lot of the cosmetic work drywall, flooring, paint etc I can do on my own and save. Would this be a good idea to build a duplex or continue to look for a buy and rehab in this tough market.
