What to do with $910,000 in cash?

This is my first post here. I'm currently learning everything that I can to start accumulating my own wealth in RE investment, however this post isn't about me.

Let's say that "John" (age 63) has $1,400,000 saved up in his 401k and is not planning on retiring from his extremely secure $150k per year job. What to do with it?

From what I've learned so far, RE seems like you get much better ROI with less risk than other investment vehicles. Does it make sense to cash out the 401k ($910,000 after taxes) and invest in RE? I'm thinking that cash flow would be the main priority to supplement "John's" income in order to lead a more comfortable life. Building equity and net worth is a nice bonus too. What would you do?

Thanks,

AW

I used to tell people to not post on the internet how much money they had, but nobody ever seems to listen ...
