The New Guy - Tyler Wilkins

Hey Everyone/BiggerPockets!

I've been listening to the podcast obsessively over the past 2-3 weeks and decided after over a year of studying that I need to start connecting with the community.

Context about me - I'm Tyler, a homeowner at 21 as of January (22yr now), Husband to a beautiful wife, and Proud father to my now 2-month-old baby boy. I work full-time as an investor-friendly property insurance agent in all 50 states and have been starting to become more obsessed with wanting to build a ridiculously large portfolio for a number of reasons.

That said, my wife is a stay-at-home mom to take care of our son due to a less-than-common start to parenthood. We reside in Surprise Arizona, and some of you may know that Arizona has taken off like wildfire, making it (or at least it appears) difficult/impossible to invest in Arizona unless having a profound amount of money. Additionally, I make good money doing what I do now, but after listening to so many hours of the podcast, I'm not sure where to get started or leverage my current situation.

(un?)Realistically I'd like to start off with a max 10-15k out of pocket on a brrr somewhere in the valley but I'm starting to think this is unreasonable and that my vision of my portfolio is farther out than I envisioned.

Anyhow! Struggles aside, I figured the only way I'm gonna see a difference is by meeting & connecting with you amazing people!

Other places you can reach me & meet my amazing family -

@Tyler Wilkins welcome to the BP community! It sounds like you're setting yourself up to head in the right direction. Would it be easier to find another house and house hack while renting out your current property? You could fashion the next one like a live-in flip/house hack hybrid which would give you renovation experience for future BRRRRs and it would be less out of pocket.
